With all the talk about repeal and replace of Obamacare Centene Corporation announced today that it would step into some of the most desperate Obamacare markets to provide much-needed coverage options.
In Centene’s news release it states that it is planning to enter new markets in 2018:
- Kansas
- Missouri
- Nevada
Centene will also expand in these markets:
- Florida
- Georgia
- Indiana
- Ohio
- Texas
- Washington
A number of insurers recently they were leaving the ACA exchanges in some states. In fact, 25 counties in Missouri are facing the possibility of having no insurers available in the exchanges after the exit of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City.
Specific details of service areas within the states listed sub-markets is unclear.
According to Centene, the number of Obamacare enrollees it insured more than doubled from 537,200 in December to 1.2 million this past March.
